Has Technology Changed Cultural Taste
Merriam-Webster defines culture as a racial, religious, or social group's customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits. It is clear that how we consume, create, and think about culture is constantly evolving, as it has throughout history. Technological development has impacted how we live, communicate, perceive the external world, and behave. However, the question is, "Does the technology shaping our teste and culture of the human desire to connect, share and evaluate culture?" (Kutchnisky).
Seeing people glued to their mobile gadgets for work or personal reasons is ubiquitous. With the introduction of new technologies, more people started staying connected globally. This has caused dramatic changes in cultural and social values (Sandra, 2013). Technology has changed the culture in many ways, both positive and negative. One of the primary transformations has been in Communication. Digital platforms and technology have made Communication much easier both locally and globally. In turn, it led to a more interconnected world where people from different cultures could learn about each other and share ideas (Sandra, 2013). Another impact of technology is the transformation of the entertainment industry. Technology caused the development of new forms of entertainment, such as online gaming and streaming services. It fundamentally changed people's leisure time and led to new cultural norms. One more fundamental change has been in education and learning patterns. Due to COVID-19, societies have fully integrated into new learning methods for the last couple of years, thanks to modern technological development.
